Our Approach

Starting therapy or even returning to therapy can be a daunting prospect, so we would like to give you an idea of how we approach working with clients.   The feedback we hear emphasises the importance of the relationship between us and our clients. We want to create a space where you can feel safe enough to talk about the difficult issues that have brought you to therapy.  We know that this can take time and so we focus on building a sense of rapport and connection.  We listen without judgement, reflecting back what we hear and asking questions to help you tell your story.  You decide the pace at which we proceed.   As you become more used to the therapy process, you may find that you want to explore other issues, relationships or conflicts. You might want to look at past experiences or patterns of behaviour and this may challenge long held beliefs.  We aim to help you to build resilience and perhaps be a little kinder to yourself.  This process can be uncomfortable, but we will be alongside to support you if things get difficult, drawing your attention to your strengths and celebrating your successes.
